Week 8: Ferdinand Illustration

It's A Start...

This isn't my final illustration of Ferdinand. I am going to be asking for feedback from peers to see what can be improved and/or added/subtracted from it. Once I get the feedback I need, I will fix it and eventually start creating the GIF along with it.

Peer Feedback

  • foreground grass texture seems too distracting
  • foreground grass texture works well in creating depth
  • add some tone to the bull so it doesn't look too flat
  • decrease the weight of the strokes on the bull
  • get rid of some of the little flowers

Revisions

Originally the illustration was 8.5x11 inches. I changed it from one page to a spreadsheet of 16x10 inches. I am planning on putting the text on the other side of the page.

This one has the text in the illustration.

Added a shadow to the cow, and this is what the final illustration looks like.

Week 7: Article GIF & Storytelling

Another GIF

During Fall break we had to make our article illustration into a GIF. As you can see both the seesaw and the weight "DEBT" are moving.

In Class (10/3)

Today we had a mini lecture on drawing hands and feet. This lecture included some techniques that can help us draw accurate body proportions. One thing that really stood out to me while watching the instructor was that he said don't be afraid of making line mistakes. You can always cover them up later.

After Lecture

Here are some of my hands and feet drawings I did in class.

Homework

For the weekend we were tasked with drawing a minimum of 4 hands and/or feet. Furthermore, we had to create a gif either using one of our hand/feet drawings, our article illustration, or just create one from scratch.

Creating a GIF

I've never created a gif before so, this was interesting to me. I struggled in the beginning trying to figure out how to set the different timings for images.

Week 15: Final Critique

I got a lot of nice comments on my Ying storybook. The only thing I needed to work on was making the pace of the story slower or gradually c...
